De verleden tijd van ‘are’ is ‘were’. A is correct.
Toelichting:‘Run’ is een irregular verb (onregelmatig werkwoord). De correcte vorm zou moeten zijn ‘he ran a marathon last year’. Antwoord b is correct.
Bij he, she, it en I gebruik je ‘was’. Net zoals in het Nederlands: ik was, hij was, zij was, het was. happenedwalkedvisitedclimbedDid he changetalkeddid she saydid not play / didn’t playdid not like / didn’t like
Bij ontkenningen en vragen gebruik je in de present simple ‘does’ of ‘do’ (‘do you like candy?’). In de past simple zet je alleen ‘do’ en ‘does’ in de verleden tijd. Dan wordt het (‘did you like candy? No, she did not like candy’).
She did not like / didn’t like the football match. Alleen ‘did’ hoeft in de verleden tijd, ‘like’ blijft het hele werkwoord. He went to Paris in 1979. My parents walked to the movie theatre last night. Did he go dancing at the party over there?‘Go’ hoeft niet in de verleden tijd te worden gezet, want ‘did’ staat al in de verleden tijd. You were too late, he had already left. Bij ‘you’ gebruik je ‘were’. They married each other in Las Vegas in 1995. Robert Kennedy was JFK’s brother. The manager said that it was too late to help him. Who told you the news about Jackie? John F. Kennedy was born in 1917 and lived in a large family. He joined the Navy during World War II. After the war, he decided to enter politics. He introduced himself to Jacqueline Bouvier at a dinner party in 1952. They married in 1953, and Jackie started her role as a First Lady. They had a glamorous life together and travelled to many countries. JFK was elected President in 1960. He worked hard to lead the country through difficult times. Jackie supported her husband and attended many official events. In 1963, they were driving in a parade and a man named Lee Harvey Oswald shot JFK. The nation mourned his death, and Jackie remained a symbol of grace and strength during that time. B is het goede antwoord. → “but he wanted to inspire and unite the nation in times of the Cold war, hoping for peace in the nuclear age.” C is het goede antwoord. → “Kennedy and Sorensen worked many times to perfect the speech until Kennedy was happy with it.” “I don’t…”. Ook goed gerekend: “He told…”. → “He told his advisor, Ted Sorensen, “I don’t want people to think I talk too much.” → “He used the copy whenever he had a moment to spare - during showering, breakfast or lunch”. A = true → ““And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.” He then spoke to the people around the world: “My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.” B = true → “Even elementary school children wrote to him about their thoughts on his ideas”C = false → “After the speech, almost seventy-five percent of Americans approved of President Kennedy” Onderstaand rapport is een voorbeeld van de opdracht die volgens de instructies in deze opdracht zijn gegeven.
